The 95th Academy Awards are three weeks away. Once again, I have created a ballot for the ceremony, which you are welcome to download, print, and use at your own Oscar party.
Personally, I still have a lot of catching up to do. I never even come close to seeing all the movies, but I try to see most of the major players, so I can determine my own set of heroes and villains for the evening. Thirty-nine feature films (and fifteen shorts) were nominated this year. While that sounds a bit daunting, if you’re just trying to see the “big ones” (picture, director, actress/actor, and screenplay), that narrows the list down to seventeen films:

- Avatar: The Way of Water (4 nominations)
- The Banshees of Inisherin (9 nominations)
- Elvis (8 nominations)
- Everything Everywhere All At Once (11 nominations)
- The Fabelmans (7 nominations)

- Top Gun: Maverick (6 nominations)
- Triangle of Sadness (3 nominations)
- Women Talking (2 nominations)
- Blonde (1 nomination)
- To Leslie (1 nomination)
- The Whale (3 nominations)
- Aftersun (1 nomination)
- Living (2 nominations)
- Causeway (1 nomination)
- Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (1 nomination)
Quite a few of this year’s nominees are already available on streaming services, or can be rented pretty cheaply. For others, keep an eye on your local movie theaters. (Looking at you, The Riverview. <3) Happy Oscars!
