Here are another three books from my 2016 reading list. These three were all great. I’ve already written at length about how much I loved Dorothy B. Hughes’ In a Lonely Place. I had long enjoyed Anne Helen Petersen’s essays about scandals of old hollywood on The Hairpin, so reading a whole book of them was a real treat. And Shirley Jackson! There just aren’t enough words in the world to adequately compliment The Haunting of Hill House and Shirley Jackson.
