Laurel Ave, St Paul

This is a house I lived in with two friends from high school for a summer when I was in college. During the week, I’d read webcomics, draw Action Athena comics in Dunn Bros, and walk around the neighborhood. On weekends, my sister and our friends would stay over for sleepovers. We talked and drank and played Bananagrams and, at least once, urinated in public.

A few years later, visiting this house for a BBQ, I met Jason. It happened that the room I had once lived in was by that time occupied by one of his high school friends. The next day he stopped by my table at Zinefest, and the rest is history.

I love this house. I don’t know anyone who lives there anymore, but I feel happy just thinking about it.
